I’m going to buy a mat to make a bespoke Squarebashing mat (4×3), by cutting in half a 6×4 . Does anyone want to go got halves and get a 4×3 (same mat as we played the big game with – barren desert)

Cost in the sale will be £23 + postage

To confirm the big SB game is Thu 26th Nov.

The room is booked on Saturday 12th Dec for a one day game. there is nothing organised as such so looking for a proposal.

    Options –
WW2 Ardennes game for the winter
I could look at organising a big Samurai battle, I think we could must 4-5 armies now (I have 2) so that might be unusual.

    open to ideas

    Hi,

OK its fallen down a bit on dates. There is no weekend that everyone (with figures) can make and we can book the room…. SO.. I suggest we move the big SB game to a Thursday (which was touted early on). We just need to prepare in advance a bit and crack on. Should be do-able. So I’m going to propose
Thu 26th Nov – How about that?

There is no reason we cant do a 1 day game of something else on 12/13 Dec (so an early Xmas type affair) … or some other date. If is wintery enough for this Ardennes FOW that people talk about? We have a few winter mats now
    I will asked around tomorrow

    Big Game update.

We’re trying to move the day to 21 or 22 November to allow Dene to attend. Colin is just confirming this with Carol.

    Figures we are now sorted

    Germans
    Dene 1 620
    Simon 1 620
    Rays 2x 620

    Allies
    Pete French 620
    Dene French 620
    Simon French 620
    Simon British 620
    Ray British 620

so we are good for up to 8 players – not that that is likely.

Participants I have so far are Pete, Ray, Simon , Dene , and maybe the 2 lads from Mansfields. I’ve not heard from anyone else. But there is still more space! Let me know

with an 8 player game in mind we’ll need 4 Germans and 4 allied at 620 pts per player

    German figures
    Simon
    Dene
    Ray

    Allied
    Dene (French)
    Pete (French)
    Ray (British)
    Simon (British)

I’ve bought some French as well and we might have to fudge some 1914 into 1915 (just say they are in transition)..

So actually we might be short for Germans ! has anyone else got any Germans? In picklehaube?

    thanks
    Simon

Nominally this will be based on the Anglo/French attacking in the Third Battle of Artois (sept 1915 – close to our anniversary date)

so the British First army (60k) , French Tenth Army (48K) vs German Sixth army (50K).

We could either play ‘regular’ for attack /defense and go through the countdown to battle.

Or if we just have a Thu, cut that and make the Allies ‘attack in force’ and play the quicker game (but just bigger)

so we have Peter & Simon…

How do we book the room, or at least find availability for Dec? I think it might be too much for a Thu as its tight doe 3hrs at best

I think that Mantic seem to great a sweeping up the disenfranchised GW players… and because their player base (GW) is so large there is sufficient money it in. 80K so far on this kickstarter in 3 hours?

I bought Deadzone in a moment of madness. To be fair you get a lot of stuff in the box (the mat is what sold me). But cleaning mould lines off faces and 6 parts models (in 28mm) just not great…

For me I’m sure why I’d stop playing 40K for this. Now that the “old world” is gone then I can see that Kings of War has a niche. But to compete directly against 40K this doesn’t seem to be a winner. The Mantic models are just not up to scratch. People keep telling me that they are getting better, but I’m yet to see the evidence. But the backstory that Mantic have is just lame (IMHO) … Mantica – really?!
