So here is the actual note –

    “Evening folks

In my last update on the show I said that we would wait until April 2nd before deciding on whether or not to cancel this year’s May Partizan. I did this on the basis that, by then, we would have a clearer picture of the situation regarding the Corona virus outbreak and the Government’s reaction to it. I think it is now obvious to everyone that things have progressed faster than I expected and that, even if things have started to improve by May and some of the restrictions have eased, it would be irresponsible to try and hold a major event under the current circumstances.

We are therefore cancelling Partizan 2020 which was due to be held at the Newark Showground on May 17th.

Although nothing is certain we are hopeful that the situation will have improved sufficiently that we feel we are able to hold The Other Partizan on 11th October. Of course this will depend entirely on factors outside our control but, if it is possible, then our plan is to transplant the May show wholesale to October. This means that if you have accepted an invite to the show in May then you are automatically rebooked for October. I will of course be back in touch with all traders, gamers and societies individually nearer the time to confirm you are still willing and able to attend but the important point is that no one who was booked in for May will miss out on a spot in October if they wish to take it. This does also mean that, unfortunately, anyone who was not able to make the May show will be unlikely to get an invite to October unless we have drop outs.

The other issue of course is money. Whilst Partizan is going to take a hit on the venue costs, as I mentioned previously, we are able to cope with this and do not see it as a threat to the show. Importantly, we know this will be a difficult time for traders given the current restrictions, the uncertainty for so many people regarding incomes and the loss of revenue not just from Partizan but from many other shows. So the choice is easy. If you have already paid for your stand for the May show we can offer a full refund. Alternatively if you wish to use the May payment as payment for October then we can do that instead. The choice is entirely yours.

We will continue to monitor the situation through the year and make regular updates as we get a clearer picture of the prospects for October.

Thankyou for your continued support and we hope to see you back at the show, fit and well, in happier times.

    Best wishes

    Richard, Laurence and Steve”

Spoke to Laurence today about Partizan in May. No surprise but Partizan will be cancelled. They are waiting for 2nd April to make the official announcement but it 99.9% likely to be off.

    thanks

I’d like to continue the SB day rolling through the years theme. Also as we has so many new attendees last year I don’t want to put them off with something a bit niche.

I would suggest we could organise a RCW one-off day later in the year, as a few folks are keen

    Dear Simon

We are pleased to confirm that we have booked for you at Partizan MMXIX on Sunday 19th May at the George Stephenson Exhibition Hall, Newark Showground,

    8ft x 6ft Games Table

We have spoken to the venue and have agreed that there will be the opportunity for us to do some setup on the Saturday afternoon before the show. If any traders or games would like to start their setup at that time they would be very welcome. We do not yet have the exact time for this but will let you know as soon as we have finalised details.

We anticipate having the hall available for setup from 7am on the day. Doors open to the public from 10am officially, though we often let people in from a little before if the weather is inclement. Officially we will close at 4pm. As a courtesy to the paying public please do not start to clear away your tables or stands before 3.30pm.

We will have a steward outside the venue to direct you to your place when you arrive. There are a large number of suitable doors for unloading and you will be directed to the one closest to your stand or games table. As at previous shows we will be providing traders and gamers packs with each table which will contain coffee vouchers and free figures for everyone and raffle entries for the gamers.

As with last year’s shows, in conjunction with Wargames Illustrated and Wargames Soldiers and Strategy magazines and the Battlegames Online Wargaming Site, we will be presenting three awards.

There will be the Macfarlane Shield for the best Demonstration Game, the Pete Gill Shield for the best Participation Game and the Editor’s Shield for the overall best game at the show – chosen a trio of wargaming luminaries. We are extremely grateful for the agreement and help from both the magazines and the judges.

These awards are in addition to the raffle prize which is open to all games presenting at the show.

If anything happens to prevent you coming PLEASE let us know, so we can re-arrange. As you know we have a waiting list for traders, so if you can’t come we can slot someone else in. Even on the day let us know using the mobile number above. For gamers it is also important to let us know because we hate having bare tables left out.

We hope you have an enjoyable and profitable day,

    Best Wishes

    Laurence & Richard

    Update on WMMS (Alumwell)
Pete has double booked, so we are looking for a Plan B. We are not particularly committed to a specific game, we had said Squarebashing. We had kept it simple based on Richard Bs canal game. We do have all the stuff for this so its easy enough to organise. However, what we don’t have is a organiser to pull this together. So is there a volunteer to pull all the bits together and put the game on at WMMS? Doesn’t have to be SB… anything to fill the table really.

Email , text or speak to me at the club. Its on the 10th March so weekend after this .. so not much time.

If I don’t here anything back this week, I’ll cancel

    thanks
