Yes, big thanks to those who organised and set up the game.
Big shout out to Lynnette whose coffee was a lifesaver…shame I couldn’t stay for the casserole…

    Thanks Simon.
I’d like to drop a couple of maps in. I can scan them as pdfs, but I don’t think I can drop a pdf into a text doc? Is there any way my pdfs can be turned into a JPEG or similar photo file?
    cheers

A trade works for me. As I said I’m not looking for to make a surplus so a straightforward trade is good. I assume the composition of both armies in the box is roughly the same, so it’s a good trade.

    Hi Simon
Good thing I picked up your response, I was just about to order a copy! If it’s as poorly thought out as you say, then I’m glad I didn’t do so.
Yes, let’s do some scenarios before the one day game…that’ll get everyone familiar with the rule system before the 11th Sept.
I think we have a game diaried for next Thursday? Originally we were going to play Saga but happy to test drive the Hail Caesar rules again, using your Germans. I have Late Republican Romans (i.e. Marian) I can bring but if you have the correct stuff happy to use yours.
Or if you want to stick to Saga please let me know either way.

    Hi Simon
any movement on this recently? You know I’d be up for a good Ancients campaign, and I quite like the Hail Caesar rules.
Presume its the period just after Varus/Arminius (i.e. not the later period of Goths, Huns etc)?
If the idea has longevity I’d get some stuff myself although it sounds like there’s a whole bunch of armies available already.

As discussed last weekend, I’ll be up for it. I can try to recruit two colleagues for a “B” team if you, Pete and Lynette are the “A” team.
I can do either Pools 1 or 2 (using my Dutch, which should be finished by end of August) or Pool 3(through tweaking my Austrians slightly).

Must admit I’d rather do it in 25mm though…think how awesome it would look.
But if you have the stuff in 15mm already so be it 🙂

What a great fun set of rules! I’ve never really been drawn to WW1 I admit, but I may be swayed by Squarebashing.

I wonder how they could be adapted to other periods? I like the idea of using them for Franco-Prussian, eliminating air and off-board artillery, reducing the effect of MGs, and you have a pretty good set.

    1915…what about Gallipoli?

This is EXACTLY the quality of terrain we should be doing for a demo game.
I’m happy to do the work myself, but it would be nice if the club chipped in towards the cost of trees, buildings etc.

No Problem. I did it as a forum post, then I worked out how to get it onto the website.
So human error (i.e. incompetence) rather than problem with the site.
