A very well written and reasoned piece. Ok its American and talking about 40K specifically, but the argument stands for all wargaming everywhere. As the author says there is room for both extremes, but should you have to decide whether you want to play because you want an enjoyable game, or because you want to win something at all costs?
Thankfully our club seems to strike a happy medium (there’s an old Ronnie Corbett joke in there somewhere), but we have to make the effort to keep the narrative (or scenario) game going. Bring on Clontarf!
