Hi, they have announced the periods for this now, they are –

Pool 1. Age of the Tercio. 1534-1600. 850 Points max.
Covering the period where infantry evolved from Massed Pike to Pike and Shot. All armies must include at least either:
2 Early Tercio GBGs, 3 Late Tercio BGs or 1 Early Tercio BG/GBG and 2 Late Tercio BGs.
Battle troops armed with Musket are not allowed.
    Permitted Armies:
Trade and Treachery: Caroline Imperialist, Later Venetian, Early Imperial Spanish, Elizabethan English, Early Eighty Years War Dutch.
Clash of Empires: Vasa Swedish, Later Imperial Austrian.
    Cities of Gold: Aviz Portugese
Wars of Religion: Later Imperial Spanish.

Pool 2. Turmoil in Europe, the Thirty Years War (TYW) and English Civil War (ECW). 1618 – 1649. 800 Points max.
This pool is intended to include armies representative of the larger engagements, so no raiding forces or similar.
Armies must contain at least as many BGs of Average or Poor battle troops as there are Superior or Elite BGs for both Foot and Mounted categories. Artillery and Commanded Shot are not included for the purposes of this calculation.
    Permitted Armies:
Wars of Religion: Any army except Early Louis XIV French and Scots Covenanters (Battle of Philiphaugh option) or Early ECW Royalist (1643 Rapid Raiding force option).

    Pool 3. Horselords of the East. 1576 – 1698. 750 points max.
Including the principally cavalry based armies of Eastern Europe and the Near East from the effective establishment of the Polish Lithuanian Commonwealth until the end of the period covered by the rules .
Clash of Empires: Early Ottoman Turkish, Wallachian/Moldavian/Transylvanian, Tatar, Early Russian, Caucasian States, Safavid Persian, Cossack, Polish Lithuanian Commonwealth, Later Ottoman Turkish.
Colonies and Conquest: Desert Bedouin, Settled Arab States.
Duty and Glory: Later Russian, Later Polish and Lithuanian, Habsburg Austrian Imperial (Relief of Vienna and aftermath option ONLY), Hungarian Kuruc Rebellion.

    General Restrictions
Armies and the options chosen must be within the specified dates (inclusive) for the pool. Allies may be included from lists not specified but the overall army must still conform to any pool specific restriction.
For all pools the army must include 6 bases of Foot Battle troops (in BGs of 6 or greater) per base of Artillery.
    Pool Points

Each pool has a nominal limit as shown above. However, players may donate up to 5 unused points to the other players in their team; e.g. A Pool 1 army is 844 points, the other players in that team may use 5 of those points in excess of the nominal maximum. No army may exceed the nominal limit by more than 10 points. No Team’s three armies may exceed 2400 points in total.

Time to think about Derby 2014. We had 2 teams last year. So far – Pete & Jon have expressed an interest. Lynnette? are you still looking to play?

We have 3-4 so far , so any others would be handy to make the 6.

    thanks
    Simon

As discussed last weekend, I’ll be up for it. I can try to recruit two colleagues for a “B” team if you, Pete and Lynette are the “A” team.
I can do either Pools 1 or 2 (using my Dutch, which should be finished by end of August) or Pool 3(through tweaking my Austrians slightly).

so it looks like we have a tentative 6. That being Pete, Jon, Lynnette, Simon G, Steve and myself.

Pete has expressed a preference for pool 1
Lynnette has expressed a preference for pool 2
Steve has expressed a preference for pool 3

so that sort of makes up one team. Its just deciding one pools for the others. Comments?

Team entries are now in. Lists to be in 20th September (2 weeks !!)

    notes –
Army lists should be submitted by e-mail to the organiser, Kevin Johnson (kevinj@btinternet.com), preferably in Excel format, AT LEAST 2 WEEKS before the date of the competition. Please do not send lists in with the competition entry. If you do not already have it, the BAD Wargamers’ website (http://www.badwargamers.org.uk/) has an ideal spreadsheet on the Downloads page.
Anyone submitting a late list will be “outscouted” (for the first round only) and will deploy their entire army before their opponent, irrespective of the initiative roll. Once submitted, lists may not be amended except to correct errors identified by the list checker.

    Hi FoG renaissance competitors

Here is a summary of the arrangements for competition games at Derby World Wargames 2014.

We are intending again to use the compound at one end of the hall for competitor parking.

Entry to the show and competitor registration will, as last year, be at the main entrance of the Exhibition Centre. A gate from the compound will allow direct access to the path along the front of the hall to walk down to the entrance.
Note the compound will be closed and locked during public hours, but can be opened on request. It will be closed and locked overnight. Competitor show tickets will be handed out on registration.

This year we have issued clarified our show policy; which is printed in the show guide (now downloadable from a link on our website at: http://www.worldwargames.co.uk/).
Please read and comply with the full policy. In summary, it requests everyone to “Please behave reasonably and with consideration for others”.
It notes that the hall is a non-smoking venue; those wishing to smoke “vape” or use e-cigarettes should exit the building via the main public entrance and do it outside. Re-admittance just requires you to show your ticket. Do NOT use the fire exits except in an emergency. Opening the fire exits doors makes the building unpleasant for others.

Competitors will be allowed entrance on Saturday from 8.15am (leave the premises by 6.30pm).
Sunday: 8.30am and end games by 4.15pm, prize giving 4.30pm (clear the premises by 5.15pm).

Public Entry times are: Saturday 10.00am to 5.00pm, Sunday 10.00am to 4.00pm.

    Directions
In case you need them, these are directions on how to get there, mainly taken from the Donington Park website. Donington Park is signed as ‘Donington Park’. There are direction signs to the Exhibition Centre inside Donington Park itself. We have been asked to use the Main Gate, but if you arrive at the other entrance security will direct you where you need to go.

    From North (M1/A50):
Leave the M1 at junction 24, then at the roundabout take the 4th exit onto the A453 (signposted Tamworth, Birmingham). At the roundabout take the 2nd exit onto the A453 (signposted East Midlands Airport, Diseworth, Donington Park).
Go past the Donington Park Service Area (MOTO). At the roundabout take the 1st exit onto the A453. At the next roundabout take the 1st exit onto the A453, go past the Airport, and finally turn right into Donington Park.

    From South (M1/M42/A42)
Leave the M1 at junction 23a, then merge onto the A42 (signposted Stoke A50). At the roundabout take the 2nd exit onto the A453 (signposted East Midlands Airport, Diseworth, Donington Park). Go past Donington Park Service Area (MOTO). At the roundabout take the 1st exit onto the A453.
At the next roundabout take the 1st exit onto the A453. At the next roundabout take the 1st exit onto the A453, go past the Airport, and finally turn right into Donington Park.

    From West (A38/A50)
The shorter and quicker way is to take the Castle Donington exit on the A50 (signposted Castle Donington). Donington Park is signed straight on at this point and the signs take you to the A453 roundabout by the M1. If you proceed straight through Castle Donington, Donington Park is about a mile on your right.

If you’ve any other questions please just ask.

    Best regards,
    Richard Waring
