James StaleyModeratorHi All,
Not sure how interested any of you are in either kickstarters generally or specifically Warpath, but thought I’d flag that this one goes live at 13:30 today I believe.
The rules are split into 2 versions:
Firefight: effectively platoon – company size with all single minis and little more detail (looks like an attempt to hit the 40k market).
Epic: Up to larger size with the suggestion of unit basing so less focus on the individuals.I’ll add a link when it’s up.

For me I’m sure why I’d stop playing 40K for this. Now that the “old world” is gone then I can see that Kings of War has a niche. But to compete directly against 40K this doesn’t seem to be a winner. The Mantic models are just not up to scratch. People keep telling me that they are getting better, but I’m yet to see the evidence. But the backstory that Mantic have is just lame (IMHO) … Mantica – really?!

James StaleyModeratorWell that’s upsetting, had a few goes at getting that link there and failed horribly (you may have noticed having been spammed with updates I’d posted).
Anyway, not sure myself. I’ve never had any hard plastic mantic stuff but my experience with the restic stuff has been dreadful, it’s a nightmare to clean, pretty average sculpts and the scale seems odd to me too.
I think Sci Fi wise I’ll hold out until the Sci Fi version of Chain of Command comes out for platoon size and keep an eye on Dropzone commander and Planetfall as an option for larger games.

Simon ClarkeModeratorI think that Mantic seem to great a sweeping up the disenfranchised GW players… and because their player base (GW) is so large there is sufficient money it in. 80K so far on this kickstarter in 3 hours?
I bought Deadzone in a moment of madness. To be fair you get a lot of stuff in the box (the mat is what sold me). But cleaning mould lines off faces and 6 parts models (in 28mm) just not great…
