ModeratorI was thinking of getting this –
Would anybody be interested in playing this as a 15mm campaign. I have a gazillion Germans and Romans already (and I can think of a few more people out there with them too). We could make up some mega big games with this with a low investment in time

ModeratorGOOD IDEA Maybe the ancient krauts won’t suck as bad as they do in FOG I can do both side natch but prefer the pro to-socialist primitives.

ModeratorMust admit I’d rather do it in 25mm though…think how awesome it would look.
But if you have the stuff in 15mm already so be it 🙂July 4, 2014 at 7:57 pm #542Simon Clarke
ModeratorIt was just the convenience of having it all already . I have about 600 Germans and I know others have them as well . I think it will look pretty awesome with a thousand figures on the table

ModeratorHi Simon
any movement on this recently? You know I’d be up for a good Ancients campaign, and I quite like the Hail Caesar rules.
Presume its the period just after Varus/Arminius (i.e. not the later period of Goths, Huns etc)?
If the idea has longevity I’d get some stuff myself although it sounds like there’s a whole bunch of armies available already.

ModeratorHi Jon,
I bought the book, and it was … OK. The games seemed a bit ill thought out. Maybe I’m wrong. I thought we could have a club game with multiple games all featuring the destruction of Varus’s army… see the front page. This might spring board some interest. there are 6 scenarios that we could work through

ModeratorHi Simon
Good thing I picked up your response, I was just about to order a copy! If it’s as poorly thought out as you say, then I’m glad I didn’t do so.
Yes, let’s do some scenarios before the one day game…that’ll get everyone familiar with the rule system before the 11th Sept.
I think we have a game diaried for next Thursday? Originally we were going to play Saga but happy to test drive the Hail Caesar rules again, using your Germans. I have Late Republican Romans (i.e. Marian) I can bring but if you have the correct stuff happy to use yours.
Or if you want to stick to Saga please let me know either way.
